Year Round Season

Competitive teams are formed in the summer of each year through open tryouts and evaluations. Players are accepted to their team for a one – year (12-month) commitment beginning July 1 to May 31st the following year.

The Competitive program requires travel to local, regional and/or out-of-state tournaments. Individual teams compete at various levels depending upon the competitive needs of the players involved.

U8-U19 Teams

In the U11-U19 age groups, there is a first team (Rush), a second team (2nd) and a third team (3rd) in each age group, when numbers allow. In the U9-U10 age groups, there is a first team (1st), a second team (2nd) and a third team (3rd) in each age group, when numbers allow. This level is referred to as the Youth Academy. Whichever the case, players have made a decision to play competitive soccer and are placed based upon their passion, needs and ability.

Player Placement

Suisun City Rush Annual Player Evaluation Process

Every year in late May and early June, Suisun City Rush hosts an Open House to welcome new additions to our teams. Unlike traditional tryouts, our Open House is designed to evaluate players in a supportive and inclusive environment. This process involves assessing hundreds of players and requires significant effort and time. While most players receive a phone call and are placed appropriately, some may fall through the cracks, miss the Open House, or feel too nervous to showcase their true abilities.

This is way at Suisun City Rush we don't believe in tryouts, but we are holding player evaluations. We always looking for motivated players!

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Technical and Tactical Abilities: We assess players' skills with the ball and their understanding of game tactics.
  • Physical and Psychological Attributes: Players' fitness, agility, and mental resilience are key factors in our evaluations.
  • Comprehensive Observation: Understanding that an Open House may not fully capture a player's potential, our evaluation extends throughout the entire year. Players are observed by their Head Coach and Director of Coaching during training sessions and games.

Placement Process:

  • Continuous Assessment: Evaluations are based not only on technical and tactical abilities but also on attendance, attitude, team chemistry, and consistency.
  • Accurate Placement: By observing players year-round, we aim to provide a more accurate placement within the Rush system, ensuring each player is positioned where they can thrive and develop.

This comprehensive approach allows us to recognize and nurture talent effectively, providing all players with the opportunity to excel and grow within our club.

Player Pathway

Our Competitive Program exists to allow any player, irrespective of ability, the opportunity to take their game to the height of their potential. Additional divisions within our Competitive Program give our top level players more elite playing opportunities. For our top players, their goals should include playing on their respective Rush Academy DPL (Girls) or ECNL (Boys) team, Rush Select XI Regional teams and Rush Select XI National teams.

For our club, our goal is to push our players to reach that "next level" by allowing our members as many opportunities within our local club and national Rush network to improve their overall game all while providing an unparalleled youth soccer experience.
